What Is Tooth Bonding?

Tooth bonding is a procedure in which a tooth coloured material is 'stuck' or bonded onto the surface of a tooth.

The material is moulded into shape and set rock hard with a special light.

The final result is indistinguishable from a normal tooth.

The procedure is straightforward and quite often requires no anaesthetic ( injections ) and no drilling.

Where Can Tooth Bonding Be Used?

Tooth bonding can be used to improve the appearance of chipped, stained or heavily filled front teeth.

Tooth bonding can also be used to close small gaps between front teeth and improve the appearance of slightly crooked teeth.

Advantages Of Tooth Bonding

The result is aesthetic.

The procedure is relatively inexpensive.

Tooth bonding involves little or no drilling. This means that sound tooth structure is maintained and dental appointments are quite relaxed and comfortable.

In the event that an accident occurs to the bonding material, the tooth can easily be repaired.

Tooth bonding can be done on permanent teeth at any age.You can see how the tooth will look BEFORE the procedure begins.

Because tooth bonding is essentially an 'add on' procedure, the underlying tooth is not changed or drilled away.

If for some reason you do not like your 'new look' tooth, it can be converted back to its original form quite easily - nothing has been permanently lost.
